Cigar box guitars originated in the South in the early 1900's where musicians made their instruments by hand and played traditional Roots Blues. These are made from vintage wooden cigar boxes with real guitar strings and pick ups and can be played acoustically or plugged in. Usually played using bottle necks, they have had a resurgence in blues music today.
